Travelling with Telegrams

When I opened the photo of a 1962 telegram with the program Preview on my Macbook, Preview automatically recognised the address of the telegram's recipient. This short video follows digital movements across the photo and into the computer’s Maps program.

The telegram was sent to T.G.S. Sastry in the 1960ies during his appointment in the U. S. at the University of California, Berkeley, where he researched cosmic ray investigations at low latitudes. It is signed by Vikram Sarabhai, who was Sastry’s supervisor at the time.
